TransAT Tutorial Manual 7.3. Oilspill
Initial conditions
It is necessary to initialise the simulation, in order to give the initial location of the different
phases. In the Initial Conditions tab, the initial conditions for the simulation are set. In this
tutorial advanced initial conditions are used.
The initial velocity can be defined in a C++ file initialconditions.cxx. A template of an
initial condition file can be found in the reference folder (oil spill in Tutorials folder).
• Copy the file initialconditions.cxx from the subfolder Tutorials/8.3 - oil spill of the
Public/Documents/TransAT5.7 folder to your project folder.
• Select Advanced Initial Conditions
• Click to compile the initial conditions. This step is optional and only checks that
the initialcondition.cxx file is written properly and can be compiled. The flow field will be
initialised later in the Execute window.
Output Management
In the Output Management tab, the parameters of the outputs of the simulation are set. In
this example, only the visualization output will be defined.
• Click Output Management on the left-hand side of the TransATUI
• Set the Output File Format and Frequency of output files from Iteration / timestep
number as follows
Output F i l e Format : Paraview
Frequency of output f i l e s : 50
• Click to select the variables for which data is to be saved
• Activate the following variables in the Output Variables window then click to save the
settings and close the window
