TransAT Tutorial Manual 3.2. Natural Convection in a Closed Cavity

               Phase Properties
The Phase Properties tab is used to define the phases of the flow. Phase properties can be
imported from the material library or defined by directly modifying the corresponding fields.

                   • Click Phase Properties on the left-hand side of the TransATUI

                   • Select Air in the Material Library drop-down list.
                     Phase 1
                        Fluid : a i r

               Simulation Parameters
This tab is used to define the numerical properties of the simulation.

                   Simulation Type and Control Parameters

                   • Click Simulation Parameters on the left-hand side of the TransATUI
                   • Set the following parameters to solve for a steady flow with an implicit method.

                     Simulation Type : Steady

                     Control Parameters
                        Number of I t e r a t i o n s : 2000

                        ENABLE Autorelaxation
                            Relaxation Factor : 0.93

                   Equations
In this section, the convergence threshold is defined, as well as the convection scheme and other
parameters of the solvers used by TransAT.

                   • Select Pressure in the equation tree

                   • Change the solver’s parameters as follows
                     Convergence Tolerance : 1.0 e−4
                     Solver : AMG R−cycle Adaptive
                     Max Solver I t e r a t i o n s : 60
                     Relative Solver Tolerance : 0.01

                   • Select Other Variables in the equation tree. All the equations except for Pressure should be
                     highlighted.
