TransAT Tutorial Manual 2.1. Block Mesh Refinement: Flow over Cylinder (Re=150)
• Click
The coarse mesh is automatically split into two blocks of equivalent sizes.
• Now change the field Select block to 3 (the finer meshes always have the largest indices)
• Click then enter the number of blocks in each direction as the following:
X d i r e c t i o n : 2
Y d i r e c t i o n : 1
• Click
The fine mesh is automatically split into two blocks of equivalent sizes.
• To display the mesh information, click in the bottom right corner of the user interface
The total number of cells in the domain given in the mesh information panel is around 2100,
which is one third less than the body fitted grid for a comparable mesh quality.
BCs Tab
The boundary settings applied in the template are not affected by modifying the grid.
2.1.7.3 Execute Tab
This tab is where the simulation is started and controlled.
• Click Execute at the top of TransATUI.
2.1.7.4 Starting the simulation
Run TransAT
• Click to start the simulation
2.1.7.5 Visualisation of the results
The results of the simulation can be seen with the help of the open-source visualisation tool,
ParaView.
• To launch ParaView, click Start and select All Programs > ParaView-4.0.1 > ParaView.
