TransAT Tutorial Manual 2.1. Block Mesh Refinement: Flow over Cylinder (Re=150)

Initial Conditions
In this tab simple initial conditions can be set. In this case, initial values for all the relevant
quantities will be set to 0 except the velocity component in the x-direction.
• Select the Initial Conditions tab on the left-hand side of the TransAT user interface

• Click U-Velocity in the quantity tree

• Set Method to Constant and Value to 0.015
• Proceed as above to set the initial state of the remaining quantities as follows
V−Velocity
Method : Constant
Value : 0

Pressure
Method : Constant
Value : 0

Output Management
The parameters of the outputs of the simulation are defined in the Output Management
tab.
• Click Output Management on the left-hand side of the TransATUI

• Set the Output File Format and Frequency of output files from Iteration / timestep
number as follows
Output F i l e Format : Paraview
Frequency of output f i l e s : 100

• Click to select the variables for which data is to be saved

• Activate the following variables in the Output Variables window then click to save the
settings and close the window
Primary Variables :
Pressure : ON
U−Velocity : ON
V−Velocity : ON

2.1.5.3 Saving the project

The template for the simulations is now ready. To save it
• Click Files then select Save
